Lords & Ladies of Misrule Soiree

He rolls into town drunk as a skunk trembling Chihuahua on his shoulder and rattle snakes for scarves.

He winks at the sun and collapses in paroxysms of laughter as the gullible gather round to buy his dubious wares he is the ‘Medicine Man’ curled up under the stars and the Appellation moon.

He is our April Fool, the Duke of Disorder, the paradise quack of chaos and we will be dancing the hallucinogenic hoedown with him at our Medicinal April Fool Soiree.

Our very own Lord of Misrule Mr Alfie Thomas will be guiding the proceedings, a fabulous line-up which includes:

  • Lady Lovely Lute aka Stephanie Feeney who will whisper Medieval somethings in your ear, she will lull you into a false sense of sweetness and drop some Belladonna in your tea,
  • the Rainbow warrior himself Kosmic Troubadour,
  • Poet Millie George radical princess of Soho,
  • Cian Binchy fresh from his sell-out show Madhouse re: Exit in Shoredich Town Hall,
  • poet extraordinaire Debra Watson will be performing her beautiful verse with a bite,
  • urban Punk goddess Julie D Riley with drummer Jeff Townsin,
  • very special guest dancer TBC,
  • special guest DJ and Society of Imaginary Friends playing their most mischievous songs.
  • Not forgetting Gorgeous Vegan food by Culinary Magicians Kathy and Roger.

Taking Part – European Arts Festival – free entry

COLLAGE ARTS – Connecting Creative Communities across Europe – hosts the Taking Part festival on Saturday 5 September 2015 as the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham will be transformed as a celebration of the role the arts is playing in building a new Europe.
Manoj Ambasna, Director of Collage Arts in Haringey, explains: “For many years now Collage Arts has been working with like-minded organisations across Europe. These partners are achieving social and economic change in their communities – whilst delivering performing and visual arts of the highest standard. So we are celebrating all that these organisations have achieved. I believe now is the time to bring together our creative energies to show how participation in arts and cultural activities can help shape the Europe we want to live in and where no one gets left behind.”

Taking Part, will take place from 12(noon) until 5.30pm and the square will be transformed into a music venue with live music. The theatre will offer a rolling program of international performing artists. Highlights of the afternoon will include: Jazz from Italy, Folk from Poland, Performing Arts, Circus and Acrobatics from Croatia, Exhibitions from Cyprus, Street Artists from Spain, Films from Slovenia and Estonia, Speakers from Greece and Netherlands, and Storytelling from Denmark.

We’ll also have a ‘Young Gifted & Back’ stage featuring many of the successful young artists from Tottenham and Haringey with many special guests, Johnny Kalsi and the Dhol Foundation, Amina Khayyam Dance Company, Street Performers of all sorts, stalls and much, much more…….

N22 Open Studios 2013

Now entering its 15th year, the Open Studios is going from strength to strength.  Over the November weekend, there are more than a hundred artists with work to display.  This ranges from large scale metal sculpture to cushions and quilts, with almost everything imaginable in between.  There are painters, cartoonists, and printmakers, and this year, the musicians will be joining in too.

Along with chance to see, buy and commission artwork, visitors have the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win fantastic free prizes from the Chocolate Factory Artists.  Adding to the excitement, 2013 will see Collage Arts collaborating with the renowned disability arts organisation, Shape London.  As part of the annual Open, they’ll be bringing some incredible work for display at Karamel and auctioning off even more with proceeds going to the artists involved.   For almost four decades, Shape has been at the forefront of promoting access to culture and inclusiveness in the arts for all sectors of society, making them an ideal charity partner for the N22 Open Studios.  It’s not just the fine arts though and, with a whole host of designers and makers too, there’s lots to fall in love with.

Whether you’re looking to brighten up the house, or for the crucial missing Christmas gift, there really is something at the Chocolate Factory to suit every taste and budget.
